Young Adult

East Brunswick Young Adults

"The future of the country depends on the skill and the sincerity of the Youth. Therefore, the necessary enthusiasm and encouragement must be generated among the Youth. All my hopes are based on the students, the Youth. They are very dear to me."
     – Sathya Sai Baba, Sathya Sai Speaks IX.

General Information

The Young Adult wing of the Sri Sathya Sai Organization consists of members aged 18 to 35. It promotes the practice of leadership, selfless service, and human values so that Youths could lead purposeful lives through spirituality by following the life and teachings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in their homes, Sai Center and communities through study circles, devotional singing, service and educational activities.

The Young Adult program is a unique experience, aiding Youth in both their sacred and secular lives. It offers the Youth to connect and grow not only spiritually but also adjust and apply the Human Values they learned in the Sri Sathya Sai Educare (SSSE) program in an extremely hectic, materialistic world.

The Young Adults groups provide a platform for the younger and older Youths to come and work together to share, help and learn from each others' experiences and wisdom in unity and harmony transforming their live to realize Divinity within.

The Youth program encourages focusing, imbibing and learning about Sri Sathya Sai Baba's life, works and teachings putting them into practice in daily life. It enables Youths to participate in activities and learn various skills that they may not have had the opportunity to do or learn in their own daily lives.

Youth Involvement

Community Service

Many times Young Adults participate in the Community Service projects such as Health Fair, Narayan Seva (Feeding of the hungry and homeless) conduct, tutoring or mentoring the under privileged, computer classes, light construction work in the rebuilding of homes destroyed in the Hurricane Sandy catastrophe. This allows the Youths to work in unity, harmony, take up leadership roles and become good citizens.

Some of the practical ways include implementing the Sadhana (Devotional) project in which they commit themselves to participate in at least one Community Service or Spiritual activity for every month of the calendar year. These activities are organized and led by Young Adults themselves and are open to all members of the Center.

Devotional Singing (Bhajans)

Many Young Adults use the medium of Devotional Singing to express their heartfelt love and devotion to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Bhajans, Devotional Music, Study Circles and the Sathasang of the Divine people allow the Youth to further educate themselves on Sai Baba and his teachings.

During a Sathsang, the Young Adults help with setting up activities such setting up the altar and the hall, sound system, singing bhajans, playing musical instruments, crowd control, distribution of prasadam or vibhuti.

Many times Young Adults conduct, perform and sing bhajans from start to finish as a musical group. This allows the Youths to take more of a leadership role to run successful bhajan sessions.

SSSE

Every Sunday for about one and half hours, many Young Adults help as SSSE or Bal Vikas teachers imparting leadership skills, teaching human values and instilling a sense of right and wrong in children through the Educare program set forth by Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

The Young Adults are in a pole position to provide an insight of the material through their personal life experiences and knowledge base. Students are able to identify and absorb the lessons taught through fresh perspective, energy and enthusiasm.

The Youth

“Love is My biggest property. I am giving My love and receiving your love in return. I often tell the students, "Give Me your love, I will give you whatever you want." That is why the students have such intense love for Me. Develop love more and more. Love your parents. Obey their command. Your lives will certainly be sanctified. Think of God always.”
     – Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

"Youth should imbibe the right ideals and plunge into society with the thirst for service as a spiritual duty, and this will make their humanness worthwhile. They should cultivate basic human traits like humility, readiness to serve and commiseration at the suffering of others."
     –
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

"Youth — the architects of the future, Students! You are the ones who will assume the leadership of the country in future. The future of the nation depends upon you. Your nature and character will decide the character of the nation. You should work for the prosperity of the nation, welfare of the world, and universal happiness. First of all, you must follow the command of the Lord. Therein lies your welfare, as well as the security of the nation and society."
     – Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Summer Showers in Brindavan 1996.

"I want you to be leaders to protect the world. Leaders like lions, self-reliant, courageous, majestic and just. Lion is the king of animals and I want you to be king among men."
     – Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Summer Course 1992.
